FAQ

  • Ideally, you should book your session at least two months in advance. As long as you reach out about two months before your preferred date, you’re typically in the clear! That said, there are some seasons where booking one month ahead may still work β€” it really just depends on how quickly bookings are rolling through as every year is different.

It’s never too early to secure your date and start planning your session details.

If you’re working with a tight schedule or specific deadlines, I highly recommend booking early enough to allow room for a backup date, just in case weather becomes a factor. Planning ahead gives us the flexibility to make sure everything goes smoothly!

  • If there's a chance of bad weather near your session time, I’ll reach out at least 3 days in advance (if possible) to let you know that your session may be at risk of rescheduling. I’ll then follow up again the day before your session to go over your options.

While I prefer to make a final decision the morning of your sessionβ€”since weather forecasts often changeβ€”I understand that some clients may have hair or makeup appointments booked. If that applies to you, I do allow rescheduling up to 2 days in advance.

That being said, none of us can fully predict the weather. In some cases, if the chance of bad weather is just too high, I may choose to reschedule even if it is not for sure to avoid unnecessary stress or obstacles. My main priority is ensuring the best possible outcome for your sessionβ€”we’re always working around Mother Nature, and sometimes that means being flexible.

I kindly ask that all clients remain as flexible as possible, just as I aim to be for you. If your schedule is particularly tight, please keep in mind the possibility of needing to consider backup dates.

Thank you so much for your patience and understanding. I make all rescheduling decisions using the best tools and forecasts available, always with your session in mind. This is not just a booking to meβ€”this is my art, and I care about your session just as much as you do so I will always make the choice that will produce the best outcome and experience!

  • I spend an estimated time of 15 to 30 hours editing each session; it varies based on the package you choose!

That being said, my typical editing window is 3 to 4 weeks (4 - 5 weeks during busy season), as I edit sessions in the order they were photographed. That said, depending on how full my schedule is and the packages that are being booked, I’ve delivered galleries as quickly as 1 to 2 weeks after the session!

Turnaround time depends on how booked I am and where your session falls in my editing queue. I always strive to get your photos back to you as quickly as possible β€” without ever compromising on quality.

  • I include all basic retouching and my usual editing process with every session. If you have any special editing requests that require more extensive work on each image, I do offer an editing add-on. Please let me know about these requests before your session so I can add the fee to your session total.

If the request comes up during or after the shoot, I will send an invoice for the additional editing fee, which will need to be paid before you receive your proof gallery.

  • Based on your chosen package and session, I always aim to provide at least double the number of images for you to choose from compared to what's included in your package. While the exact number can vary depending on a few factors, my goal is to give you a generous selection so you can choose your absolute favorites!

The β€˜Double Platinum’ portrait or senior package includes all of your final images at a discounted rate, allowing you to skip the selection process and avoid purchasing images outside of your package. For all other packages, you’ll have the option to purchase the full gallery or select additional images individually beyond those already included.

  • Yes β€” depending on your request, I do travel for sessions! For example, if you're graduating from Purdue University in Lafayette, I can absolutely photograph your session right there on campus!

For any session that requires travel, the booking would include:

    • The largest package for that session type

    • A travel fee: $1 per mile driven after the first hour of travel

    • Any additional expenses, if applicable (which we’ll discuss in advance)

My typical travel limit is up to 2 hours one-way, but I would always check in with me first to confirm feasibility.

If you have a specific location in mind, feel free to reach out β€” I’d love to chat and go over all the details with you!

  • Planning to bring a parent or guardian along? That’s totally okay β€” and I actually encourage it! I love when they want to be part of this special moment with you.

That said, I kindly ask that they keep a bit of distance during the shoot to avoid any distractions or disruptions. Please refrain from making any adjustments (like fixing hair, outfits, or posing) β€” I’ve got you covered! These kinds of interruptions can impact the flow of the session, cut into your scheduled time, and ultimately affect the outcome of your photos. If they (or you!) have any special requests, feel free to share them with me at the beginning of the shoot so I can incorporate them thoughtfully.

That being said, I completely understand that not everyone feels comfortable being watched while being photographed β€” and that’s totally valid. If you’d prefer to come alone, that’s no problem at all! Your guest is also welcome to tag along but stay in the car or explore nearby during the session. And don’t worry β€” my assistant will be there to help carry anything you need.

To keep things smooth and simple (and because some locations limit guests), I do ask that you bring just one person with you to your session. This helps us stay focused, organized, and on track!

  • You're absolutely welcome to have your guest take some behind-the-scenes photos on their phone while I'm photographing you! I just ask that they focus on capturing the behind-the-scenes aspect β€” for example, me in action while taking your photos β€” rather than simply photographing you in the exact pose I've set up (which would include me in the shot as well).

I love seeing and sharing those behind-the-scenes moments, so please feel free to send them my way! I’m always happy to repost them on my social media (with credit, of course!).

One quick note: I kindly ask that no behind-the-scenes videos be taken. Videos can be distracting during the session, and I prefer to keep my creative process and client experience personal and uninterrupted. This helps keep our time together relaxed, genuine, and flowing smoothly.

Thanks so much for understanding β€” I can’t wait to create with you!

  • I’m happy to offer you the option to bring one extra person to your shoot if you’d like! They can jump in 1 - 2 photos during the session. However, if you’d like them to be featured in more than that, it would require adding a mini shoot to your session. My mini shoot packages are designed for individual subjects, so there would be an additional fee for the extra person.

I love that you want to include them in some shots, but I just want to gently remind you that the focus is always for the session type that was originally booked.

  • Senior photo sessions are typically scheduled during the summer before your senior year or in the fall/winter of your senior year.

For example, if you're finishing up your junior year and want a summer session, it's best to book in March or right after the semester ends to secure your spot.

Some clients do choose to wait until after graduation to schedule their session β€” usually when they’re not planning to use the photos for graduation parties or announcements. If that’s the case for you, there’s a bit more flexibility!

However, if you do plan to use your photos for a graduation party, invitations, or any special event, you’ll want to book earlier (before or during your senior year) to ensure you have everything ready in time.

Planning ahead helps everything run smoothly, and I’m here to help you choose the right timing for your goals!
